Hello and welcome,
I graduated in 2007 from Manchester Metropolitan University with a first class honours degree in Three Dimensional Design. Since graduating I have set up my own studio within Bankley Studios in Levenshulme, I have exhibited my work in galleries across the uk and am currently teaching ceramics at an arts centre in Salford.
Using slip-casting, throwing and hand-building techniques I make small bottles, cups and bowls. Once bisque fired I sandblast the work to create detail, intricate patterns and delicate fragile edges. I want to encourage the user to engage with the pieces and in so doing, discover the hidden layers and meaning.
I will be taking part in a small collaborative exhibition/selling event at Garry Olson Gallery in Wilmslow. Other featured artists will be; Garry Olson, Sylvia Glover, Kylie Yeung and Jane Mitchell. It will be held on Sat 5th (10 - 6pm) and Sun 6th (11 - 5pm) December, all welcome. Check out the website for more details; www.garryolson.co.uk
My porcelain 'flock of butterflies' installation can be seen at Gallery Oldham this Dec until April. It is being displayed alongside the galleries collection of stuffed animals as part of their endangered species exhibition. The exhibition starts on Sunday 13th December. Check out their website for more details; www.galleryoldham.org.uk
